Pictured on the right is Albert Redgrave, who at the 1911 census was recorded as being the postman at Stockton, nine miles (14 km) from Farnborough. He was born in the nearby town of Southam in 1878. His slim build was probably usual among rural postmen, who had to tramp miles on foot to deliver the post and typically did this twice a day, seven days a week.
