This recording is an excerpt of the first quarter-peal rung on the new six bells.
A quarter-peal consists of 1,260 changes of Grandsire Doubles, and as far as is known, this was the first time ever that one had been rung in Cherington. The ringers were from The Coventry Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers, founded in 1907.
To celebrate their centenary year, they returned to Cherington in November 2007 and rang a full peal, which meant ringing through all the combinations possible with six bells, totalling 5,040 changes and taking some three hours.
